Hear what past participants have said about the New Vibe Yoga Training Program:

“I really enjoyed the books that were assigned for reading, and felt that the common theme between most of them was the pursuit of well-being and spirituality... The training has helped me … to redefine yoga and expectations of what the ‘yogic experience’ can be. In a way, I feel relieved to better know now that yoga can be a multitude of experiences beyond a physical aspect.”
-Kat

“I have more of an understanding of the lineage, a better understanding of the breathing, and I’m literally just physically stronger. The course also helped me confront some lifestyle choices I had been making, and since making those adjustments I’m able to practice more fully.”
-Glennis

“I feel less attached (now) to getting the next pose … and more focused on breathing ... Also, I’m more open to less asana and many other ways to practice Ashtanga yoga. Not that I don’t love asana! However, I’m softer with my practice and myself and open to more things like pranayama.”
-Jackie

“The training was like being on a yoga retreat…. [over the course] I realized that what the practice offers has little to do with alignment or postural work. It’s not about accumulation of knowledge either. The training gave me the opportunity to have an authentic dialogue with my most true self. And that true self can be reached only by crossing … boundaries and looking at (what) I’ve been hiding not just from other people, but also from myself.”
-Nicoleta

About New Vibe Yoga:

At New Vibe Yoga, we understand ashtanga yoga- an eight-limbed path that helps us still the fluctuations of the mind- as a therapeutic and healing practice, and means of cultivating tranquility and joy in our daily lives. We take a non-dogmatic approach to the practice and teaching of ashtanga yoga, offering ancient teachings in a modern context.

Program Teacher:

Alex Schatzberg has been teaching and practicing yoga in New York City for well over a decade. Dissatisfied with ubiquitous corporate yoga studio environments, Alex opened New Vibe Yoga in the East Village in 2014. It is his intention to provide the community with a home for an authentic and therapeutic approach to yoga, and sustain a studio that is owned and operated by a Yoga Teacher, not a publicly traded company or real estate holdings firm. Inspired by the accessibility and modernity of practices like Jivamukti Yoga, the intense focus and energetic purity of Ashtanga Yoga, and the celebratory aspects of everyday life found in Bhakti Yoga, Alex has created New Vibe Yoga - a studio for a Joyful approach to Ashtanga Yoga. Alex has had the pleasure to study closely and train with some of the West’s early adopters of classical yoga, including Christine Hoar, David Williams, Guy Donahaye, Ruth Lauer-Manenti, Rima Rabbath, Ragunath Cappo and has attended special workshops and classes with countless others including Nancey Gilgoff, Maty Ezraty, David Life, Sharon Gannon, & Hanne Sydanmaa. Alex is grateful to his Sanskrit teacher Kiki Flynn for imbuing him with the knowledge of Patanjalis Yoga Sutras and Christine Hoar for introducing him to the principles of Ayurveda. He is also inspired by the teachings of Baba Hari Das, Dr. Shankaranarayana Jois, Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Dr. Vasant Lad. Alex practices the 1st, 2nd and 3rd series of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri k. Pattabhi Jois, and maintains a daily kriya, meditation and mantra practice. Alex has taught at many primiere yoga centers throughout New York City including YogaWorks, Equinox, Ashtanga Yoga Shala NYC, Yoga Vida, Go Yoga Brooklyn, Exhale Spa, as well as working with private clients, corporations and celeberites. He has owned and operated his own yoga center since 2014 and in 2018 developed and launched the New Vibe Yoga Fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga and Ayurveda Training Program. The training program has subsequently been offered yearly both in person and online. Modern society and city living inflict all kinds of mental and physical stress on our body and mind and it is Alex's intention to help people discover yogic tools to reduce stress and experience joy.
